Native to the temperate Northern Hemisphere. Common Relatives include almond, cherry, apple and blackberry.
Flower Care
These have a vase life of 4 to 16 days. Roses love fresh water, so always good to change the water every few days. With roses the most important thing to do is remove all foliage that will sit in water. Give a good clean cut to the stem and place in a clean vase, with fresh water and flower food.
General Info
Roses have always been known for their beauty, and even in the middle ages when most plants were grown solely for the medicinal qualitites roses were grown for their beauty alone, despite the rose hip being a known source of Vitamin C. Roses are the most popular commercially grown cut flower, taking 25 % of all cut flower sales. Most commercially grown roses don’t have a scent but there are a couple that do, so always worth checking them out. Roses come in many different colours. There are also spray, and mini roses that are commercially grown.
