Origin

Native to China. Common relatives include Dahlia, lettuce, artichoke and endives.

Flower Care

These have a vase life of 7 to 14 days. To get the best out of them ensure that you cut the stems above the woody ends this will ensure you get good water uptake. Remove the bottom leaves if there are any, and place in fresh water with a flower food sachet. If you don’t have flower food, Chrysanthemums like a little bit of sugar to help their florets develop.

General Info

Chrysanthemums are also referred to as Mums, and Chrissies. They have been cultivated in China for 2000 years. Infusions of the leaves and flowers were used as medicine, and made into tea and wine. The dew collected from the flowers was said to promote longevity. Chrysanthemums come in standard and spray varieties, and the spider chrysanthemum is one of the most desirable.
