Seasonal Flowers

Have noticed that a few people are looking for seasonal flowers at the moment, so thought I’d give a bit of an update on some of these.  Peonies, first off, many peoples favourite especially brides, these are available around September / October. These only grow in the colder areas of the country so the bottom end of the North Island is about the closest to Auckland that the growers are located. I love Peonies and it amazes me how in Christchurch they just grow in peoples gardens, how lucky is that.

Looking around the florist shops you may have noticed that there are a lot of spring flowers out already. I know I already have some flowering in my garden.  This is due to the warmer weather, so there is a lot more available a lot earlier than normal. Generally they last in the shops until around August some time, but due to the warmer than normal winter we are having these could finish a bit earlier. Tulips are becoming almost year round for all you tulip lovers out there, however generally at this time of year there are heaps, which is all good for our pockets.

Roses and Chrysanthemums are available year round. However some of those big gorgeous standard Chrysanthemums are only really available around April, May, June and a few hanging around in July. If you want to have a look at other flower varieties, check these out on our Facebook page, and if you want to know about availability of other flowers, drop me a comment on Facebook and I will find out for you.
